Vita Muccia

Vita Muccia is a 27 year old actor, and writer based in Costa Mesa, CA. She received her BA from University of California, San Diego in 2021, and currently works predominantly in the Education Department at South Coast Repertory, under the guidance of Hisa Takakuwa. Throughout college, she pursued theatre performance, participating in various productions spanning from student work to full produced department pieces. Since graduating, she has worked across Southern California, performing and stage managing pieces at South Coast Repertory, The Wayward Artist, The Long Beach Playhouse, Newport Theatre Arts Center, and Modjeska Unscripted Theatre.

Her interest in writing was sparked at UCSD, completing multiple 10 minute pieces, and a one act piece during her last two years of study.  After graduating, this passion waned, but returned over the last few years, starting with writing shorter 10 minute and one-act pieces for friends and collaborators to film or perform. Her most cherished accompaniment was being selected to develop her work, Robbed, with the EMBARK cohort, sponsored by the Orange County Playwrights Alliance and the Wayward Artist Theatre Company. After six months of development, the piece was presented in a staged reading at the Wayward Artist in November 2024.  The staged reading iteration of Robbed, and her 10 minute play PULL,  are included on the New Play Exchange Profile.

Vita grew up in a traditional Italian-American home in Southern California, in worlds that often contradicted each other, but could agree that pursuing anything in theatre was not a smart decision. She wants her work to motivate “the awkward girl” who found something she loved, and pursues it in the face of obstacles and lack of support, while embolden creatives to try anything that speaks to their soul. She finds her inspiration by constantly questioning and curiously observing the world around her, seeing why there still aren't answers to pivotal questions, finding the humor in mundane situations and how limitations or obstacles can teach, grow and shape you into the person you’re meant to be. These worldviews directly translate into her writing and why she has continuously returned to writing again and again.
